We love this concept here at the OC, it gives the “hungry” artists a chance to submit their EPK’s and compilations to the committee! We can’t wait to see what’s next, maybe they’ll extend it to Media and E-Media Awards…Thus saith the LORD!!!! Move over Prophetess Bynum, the OC has a new Prophetess!!! LOL

This month’s edition of Upscale Magazine is entirely devoted to men in lieu of Father’s Day fastly approaching. Upscale, interviewing there guest contributor, multi-award winning international gospel artist  Israel Houghton ,ask who his favorite television father figures were and Houghton explained  how much he admired the grace and patience it took Mr. Brady to merge two of the largest families on television in the show “The Brady Bunch” .

In his contributing article Houghton reveals how much he struggled with his identity as a child, how that translated into the first years of his budding music career and how being true to himself helped him “find his own trail”. He was transparent in this article, revealing  how people (who he calls experts in the industry) ,Ignorantly (his words) told him after his start “well you just can’t do it like that” which he admits was quite discouraged . But he pressed forward focusing on his ultimate goal to “be a bridge culturally”.

Well, there’s soooooo much goodness here to report that we here at the OC can’t stand it! #1- One of our fav’s referred to by her sister Dorinda as the Michael Jackson of the group (The Clark Sisters), the baby sister Evangelist, First Lady, Reverend Mother Karen Clark-Sheard has inked a long-term distribution deal with EMI Gospel for her own label Karew Records.

This will allow Special K to own her Masters. The Clark Sisters will also partner in this deal, now owning their own Masters as well, thus giving them greater control over the direction of their projects! The current artist on the label will be Karen Clark Sheard and The Clark Sisters. We are sure that their roster will increase and fill quickly. Karew vs. PAJAM- we know PAJAM is not a private label (yet) but, my oh my would this be awesome, sounds like the Clark, Sheard, Moss family continues to rise to the top.

This has been a long time coming for The Sassy Sisters from Michigan who have changed the way singers and musicians approach Gospel Music since the 70′s. Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark, the matriach of the Clark Family and Gospel Pioneer/Trailblazer would be most proud! With Karew Records on the Rise the new President- Special K herself has already appointed Darrell Thompson as general manager, Cynthia Ellis as VP and her son J. Drew II as A&R. Sheard’s next solo album is Karew’s first project and will be released in late 2009. Karew records which is a combination of Karen and Drew (her Husband/Son’s middle name) is set to release a Clark Family Christmas in October, and a new Clark Sisters release in early 2010. I am glad that the sisters decided to do it One Last Time….. AGAIN …lol(only the CSF’s will get that!!!)!!! Now its time to weigh in…. what do u think????

Over a year ago Bishop Thomas Weeks released a video via bishopthomsweeks.com of a meeting being held in his church office planning a reality television show “The Next Ms. Weeks” (video available after the cut). Because there was never any statements released informing the public of the cancelation of those plans outercourttalk.com reported the information that was made available. Since then the ministry of Bishop Thomas Weeks has released a youtube channel with videos of Bishop Weeks and his soon to be wife Prophetess Christina Glenn giving an in-depth look at their relationship, how they really meet, as well explaining any perplexity linked to the “Next Mrs. Weeks” development taping .

Really …..Ok…. will be a new addition to OC.com where we will talk about things in the news and around the web that raise our eyebrows. You know like Reverend Run giving pastorial advice from a bubble bath via text massage..or BET’s Lift Every Voice host Coco Brotha asking R&B singer Bobby Valentino to minister Christ to millions of viewers directly after him talking about his night in the club…You know those things that make you say “Are you serious”. I think this will be a great addition to OuterCourtTalk. I also hope you like it and that this will provoke everyone to start commenting! Especially since we have only been in existence for 5 mths and in the last 30 days over 13,000 people have viewed the site yet less than 1% of you comment. …. Yo what’s really up with that. Well anyway lets get started
