Pastor Gregory B. Drumwright is defiantly a new artist to look out for. For the past 15 years, “Drumwright” as he is affectionately known, has traveled the world performing the Lord’s music and preaching the Gospel of Jesus. He has been an invited guest to perform at The White House (three times during the eight year span of the Clinton administration) as well the World Famous Apollo Theatre twice.

Recently he organized a group of Levites called The Singers and Musicians ALIVE! to record their debut project ‘A Long Time Comin’. The project merges different church-choir/ensemble sounds featuring everything from praise and worship to contemporary and traditional gospel grooves. Having recorded and performed music for many gospel artists over the past decade, Drumwright set out to finally introduce his sound to the world. When the OC caught up with Pastor Drumwright recently one of the first things he stated while referring to the focus and drive behind this new project was that its “Not industry but ministry”. When asked about his musical influences this is what he had to say:

The HOLY GHOST (who can do anything he wants in me or through me), James Hall (musically, he’s in a class by himself), Fred Hammond, definitely Kirk Franklin, Bobby Jones (who gave me my start in Gospel, so I will always rep. him), John Kee, Donald Lawrence, Tye Tribbett (who showed me a lot of love)

When Pastor Drumwright is not busy traveling the country promoting his CD or fulfilling the duties as pastor of The Citadel Church in Greensboro, NC, he is in the studio as Executive Producer for other artist. His most recent venture in this arena was the production of ‘So You Would Know’ a CD project for Apostle Freida Cates. This CD defiantly shows Pastor Drumwright versatility as a producer as its one of the few spoken word CD’s on the market.
