(Darwin and his beautiful wife Traci. You may remember him mentioning his love for her during his cameo on the Donald Lawrence ‘Finale’ CD)
Hobb’s has been a very man. While touring and in the studio he has also been spending his time writing and co-producing much of his recent projects. He made hit cameo appearances on albums with Deitrick Haddon in the ever popular tune “He’s Able” and has been doing several interviews speaking with various media outlets in his effort to bring attention to the issue of molestation, incest, rape, and the always ‘taboo’ topic of homosexuality in the black community and its creep into the black church. All while battling personal health struggles in which God has completely healed him of. AMEN!!!
(Traci Hobbs)
Alright OC readers, with Donnie McClurkin, Darwin Hobb’s and Kirk Franklin all raising their voices discussing the lack of discussion on molestation, incest, rape, homosexuality and sexuality in general- how do you feel about these often avoided issues as it relates to our community? Do u think we as a body of believers are doing enough to address these concerns? Weigh in – leave a comment!

Of course we are not doing enough about those issues mainly because biblically we cannot just talk about the issue, but do something which includes people sitting down until they are healed. There is so much of it in the church now, that to sit folk down would be a major blow to our worship services. I say so what? We can worship without the singer/musician/etc for a few weeks, or go without hearing our favorite preacher if need be. Their healing is more important than our need to be entertained. No one in the church (mostly) believes in the period where you stop singing/preaching/etc if caught up in these issues. We have been lead to believe that you must keep going no matter what, which is a lie. Everyone needs time to heal.

No, I don’t believe the issues are being adequately addressed within the body. I know of several men and women of God, who basically feel such topics are private matters, rather than matters to be discussed in church. These same people are locked in stone age thinking. My personal opinion is that rape, homosexuality, etc, should be confronted in the church! All of it is in the Bible(and present in alot of churches), so instead of jumping over it, tackle it head on with a healthy discussion. I’m trying not to sit on my soapbox, but I’m a firm believer that it’s one of the church’s responsibilities to address such issues.
