Many of our readers have been asking for Dr. Juanita Bynum updates and let me tell you, I’m breaking a sweat just thinking about how busy she’s been. With television appearance and interviews, book signings, “empowerment lectures”, conferences, overseeing her record label FLOW Records, and hosting a live stream online talk show its no wonder she’s maintaining her size 6 figure(and she looks amazing). Concert photos of gospel diva LeJuene Thompson have been released chronicling the east coast ‘Church Tour’ that she’s currently on.

Several weeks ago the OC did a story about LeJuene Thompson, her husband Cedric Thompson, and the recent CD release entitled ‘Metamorphosis’ produced through their production company LeCe Productions. We are really excited about this new release and the title is so befitting seeing as it has been a long time coming for both Cedric and LeJuene who have been in the industry for years (Ced has produced over 63 albums …..OMG (goodness-had to clarify, I could just hear my grandmama saying “Don’t use the Lords name in vain”).

The Thompson’s have made this a family affair bringing their children Lil CJ a Music Mogul in the Making (he is really sick on the drums) and Chris a Football Sensation.

The recent death of pop singer Michael Jackson has demanded the presence of political leader Reverend Al Sharpton in the public eye. Just hours following MJ’s tragic death Sharpton offers a very quick response to the many mourners and announced a memorial service being held that same night July 25th, 2009 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem via CNN News. During the life of Michael Jackson, Sharpton had been a close friend and confidant to the star. The untimely death of this American Legend has shed light upon Al’s loyalty to that relationship.

After his very moving memorial speech millions of Americans are expressing their new found respect for the reverend and his ministry. Americans are also commenting on the eloquence of his words while remaining true to himself. We are very eager to see what you think of this and have provided two videos (one of CNN reporting his response in front of the Apollo following the news of Michaels’ passing and the other of his memorial speech) to refresh your memory. Yolanda Adams: The name stands alone and so does her artistry. That’s why it’s no surprise that the 2009 conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation has chosen her to provide the prayer breakfast entertainment. The Pine Forge Academy Choir from Pennsylvania will accompany the platinum selling artist and we pray that as the congressmen and women are taking back their eggs and bacon the power of God over take them.

Since starting ‘Yolanda Adams In the Morning’ her own highly rated radio show that airs on urban gospel stations around the country we haven’t seen much of Miss Adams. Her most recent national appearance at the 30^th Annual UNCF event honoring Pattie Labelle did yield a very stirring performance (actual video below…and let me tell you, by 3:06 Pattie is to full she can barely keep her mascara on…LOOK CLOSE AT 2:12 AND YOU’LL SEE TINA & ERICA CAMPBELL LITTLE SIS GOO SINGING BACKUP), so footage from the September 26^th event is highly anticipated.

Kee, Pastor and Founder of New Life Church, Charlotte, NC- mega super GI producer ( the list could go on for days) has now another title to add to his long repertoire of achievements. On June 4, 2009 Pastor Kee became Dr. John P. Kee, joining the ranks of several of his Pastoral and Musical colleagues. He received the honorary Doctorate Degree of Sacred Music from the accredited Christian Bible Institution an Seminary located in Houston, TX. Dr. Tony V.. Lewis is president and Dr. C. Edward Moten is the Dean of Administration.

The Degree was presented by Pastor (yes Pastor- she is Assistant Pastor at Jericho City COGIC-Bishop Brian Nelson. Check her out preaching at a women’s service below!!!) and Powerhouse Vocalist Dr. Kim Burrell, who is a member of the board of Regents.

Kee was humble in speech but exemplify more than 25 years of musical experience coining him a maven in the music faction. His continuous activities in music reflect why he was selected for such a high honor. He founded New Life Christian Academy School of the Performing Arts- an inner-city school where he provides education in music, orchestra, piano, dance and vocal performance. He and wife, Felice Kee, award numerous amounts of scholarships for under privileged children in the community, so that they can have the opportunity to excel in the arts. The OC wishes to congratulate Dr. John P. Kee on this wonderful honor!
